As Cute As the Real Pet

Portland-based artist Amelia Santiago is uses her amazing creative gifts to make pet lovers very happy. SOOOO much less creepy than getting your dead animal taxidermied. Instead she uses needle felting to create wool fiber sculptures of dogs and other animals commissioned by the doting owners.

    YooStar Makes You the Star

Many of us live vicariously through the films we watch; indeed I think it’s safe to say that’s the purpose of Hollywood and the root of our fascination with celebrities. We cry, we laugh, we experience rushes of adrenaline when the good guys fall. The better the movie, the more in tune into that world [...]

    Global Laundry

Fabric softener is pretty boring when you think about it. You have around fifty choices that all smell nearly the same, and by the time you’re in your thirties you catch on that lavender mist and seaside garden have a difference of about zero, and you get excited when a new smell comes out, until you use it and realize it’s exactly like the rest. Well, Japanese company Nissan Soap is working on ways to make fabric softener a little more interesting.

    …Quite the Following.

OK….I love twitter. Yes, like most people when I first heard of it, I thought it was the dumbest idea ever.  I had the “Isn’t this social networking thing going a bit far?” argument with others and myself.
But then something clicked:  Yes, writing 140 characters to your close friends and co-workers about what you ate [...]

Dude Stop it, Seriously! It’s Your Turn to Wear the Helmet!

TN Games has released a helmet that will complement their FPS Gaming Vest that lets you literally feel explosions, gunshots and blows that your character experiences in video games. Not to mention, make you look like the worlds biggest dork!

The HTX helmet uses a similar technology as the FPS Vest, allowing you to feel blows [...]

    Swedish Body Swapping Experiment

Ever wander what it would be like to swap bodies with someone else?
According to Swedish Scientists this seemingly impossible feat might be easier than you would think.

The press release explains the experiment:
Cognitive neuroscientists at the Swedish medical university Karolinska Institutet (KI) have succeeded in making subjects perceive the bodies of mannequins and other people as [...]

    NFL + 3-D = front row seats

If 3-D doesn’t give Hi-Def television a run for their money we don’t know what will. Finally switching over from analog to hi-def, and already a faint voice is creeping up taunting, “gotta get 3-D, gotta get 3-D, gotta get 3-D!” Can you imagine a screen shot that literally makes your reflexes [...]

    As Real as It Gets

Some of you may remember that nauseating carsickness experience you felt while watching the Blair Witch Project flick in theaters so many years ago. The film was a quite a smash, and those shaky handheld cameras were largely to credit for the realistically terrifying experience it helped create.
    Now, almost a decade [...]

Role Playing Maid Tours in Japan

Ahh the maid fascination. Maid Cafe's have been around Japan for a while now, and we've even seen one or two pop up in California, but this is a new twist on the standard experience. Tourists can now rent a cosplay maid in Akihabara to take shopping with them at a nifty fee of 6,000 [...]
