Yes it’s true, most video games are played by males; but there’s no denying the presence of female gamers and a team of girls have made it their mission to represent and promote other females in the male dominated community.
Calling themselves the “Frag Dolls”, the young ladies were recruited by Ubisoft back in 2004. Since then, they have not only been wining gaming tournaments against the boys and proving everyone their serious gaming passion and capabilities, but have been actively developing a friendly gaming community that encourages other women to try playing video games. The compelling piece might at once be that girls playing video games are breaking the traditional gender roles we see in our Yin-Yang Blend wave. But I found the fact that these girls actually looked like girls to be more interesting. *gasp!* Yes –the pretty faced, long haired dolls with pink writing on their t-shirts aren’t exactly what first came to mind when I thought “gamer girl”. No, that’s not sexist, I’m a girl, I can say that.
Men being macho and women being feminine is the simple nature of our Guys & Dolls wave. Young ladies playing video games while representing themselves in femme style adds a flair of “cool” to the whole thing, indeed, I may take my nephews offer up on a little Mortal Kombat the next time I visit.
