Wii Music Headed to Classrooms

I’m sure you’ve heard praise for the Wii on this blog several times, well, unless its when we talk about people injuring themselves with it. But aside from that it’s been a good little machine, opening new worlds of gaming and introducing entire demographics to the gaming world, a place that one time was only roamed by “irresponsible teens”. Well, that’s what they called me at least when I’d plug a good 30 hours a week into a game. But with the change that Wii brought, it’s opening all sorts of doors.

The most recent one was getting the Wii into elementary schools. Nintendo has been in talks about this for a while, and recently partnered with The National Association for Musical Education to bring Wii Music into schools. Now, granted, it’s no Guitar Hero and it doesn’t teach you how to play an instrument, but the two combined are hoping it does spawn some musical interest in the kids. Talk about brand trust, a school letting video games into classrooms and approving of it, I never thought I’d see the day. And Wii Music may not be the best game out there, I’m not a huge fan, but I can play a pretty mean version of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and if that gets a child inspired enough to explore music outside the game, rock on.
